I'm Not From London at The Loggerheads Aug 8th

Undoubtedly my favourite bar in a cave in Nottingham (although there’s stiff cave-based bar competition.  Not many cities can lay claim to that fame!) Loggerheads have yet another weekender packed with musical action with Open Thursday (including a bring-your-own instrument jam) followed by free live music on Friday.  The full weekend events line-up is here.

This Saturday is the “I’m Not From London” show.

“Every second Saturday of the month we”ll be interviewing an assortment of gifted people in the hope to unmask unnoticed talent. A film crew will capture the unveiling of top quality bands, artists and performers whilst a selection of chat show presenters will endeavour to bring out the character behind the skill. Around the interviews, we will have live bands, djs, live art installations and anything else bizarre enough for the show.”

This month’s line up:

ZANIN’S MAGIC CRAYON (Bossa Nova / Post punk / Acousmatic / Tape music) from Hove.
PHIL ASHMORE & DAP C (On their 2009 Summer Tour).
CHRIS MCDONALD (Acoustic / Folk / Indie). JOHN MARRIOTT (Musical Differences).
YING (Folk / Acoustic / Alternative).
ANDY ROBERTS (Acoustic / Folk / Other).

Interviews with: VIDEO MATT – Mr White Dolemite himself will be explaining the mastermind behind the collection of extraordinary film posters that were recently exhibited at The Loggerheads. HELLO THOR RECORDS – The latest production team to emerge in Nottingham.

8pm til 1am. FREE ENTRY!

Incidentally, Loggerheads is the olde inn that apparently gave rise to the expression ‘at Loggerheads’ due to some tunnels from the old gaol (now the Galleries of Justice) taking the condemned man down to their last night of freedom in the inn.  This is probably a load of tosh, and indeed many other English seem to lay claim to this fame, so if you have any insight into this local myth please let us know!
