London Design Festival showcases Nottingham talent

LondondesfestRight now, local designers are showing London Design Festival exactly what Nottingham is made of when it comes to creativity. Designers in disciplines ranging from film to photography to furniture are playing an important role in the UK’s biggest annual celebration of all things design. That’s thanks to a joint initiative by Sarah Davenport Design and Nottingham City Council – all with the aim of showing just how much design talent is on our doorsteps.

The high profile festival will host an exciting range of work, some of which has been made specially for the occasion. The festival launch included a catwalk show introducing new collections from Eternal Spirits and Bantum Clothing. Nottingham architect and Honorary Consul of Italy, Dr Valeria Passetti has been involved with preparing layout while Hollywood film director Raj Pathak has worked on a series of stills.

The festival also marks the launch of two new Nottingham brands. Sarah Davenport is re-launching her thirty-one year design and cabinetmaking family company Davenport Cabinetworks Ltd as Sarah Davenport Design Ltd and Matthew Dabbs, previously part of Lime Studio is introducing the first of his independent design collection. As well as exhibiting with Designersblock who are covering over 5000sq mtr in Earls Court, Sarah Davenport worked with them to create a launch party at their HQ to see in the start of the festival. Other Nottingham designers in the festival spotlight include Philip Watts Design, Debbie Bryan and Photographic Interiors.
