Write here, write now

Contrary to popular belief, us writerly types don’t spend every hour in a freezing attic room penning odes (though the frozen fingers and toes part is actually quite true). We also enjoy being out and about and meeting new people. And when we mentioned before that there was plenty on offer for the region’s writers at the moment, we weren’t joking. First of all, here’s advance warning of a big event for writers in March 2010. The Writing Industries Conference takes place at Loughborough University on Saturday 6 March next year. You can network, find out what’s new in the world of writing and meet other writers. Last year’s event sold out fast, so get booking!

Closer to home and much nearer in the diary are two events organised by the Nottingham Writers’ Studio. Tomorrow morning, published writers (and those aspiring to be) can visit the studio and talk to current members. If you haven’t been to the studio yet, it’s well worth a visit. This is a great chance to have a nosey and find out what it’s all about.

On Thursday 3 December from 7pm you can hear readings from authors and witness the launch of Weathervane Press, a brand new publishing enterprise dedicated to fiction by Nottingham’s writers.
