British Art Show 7 Launching from Nottingham

It would seem that Art is well and truly putting Nottingham on the map. The prestigious British Art Show will be launching from Nottingham in October 2010, before touring the UK and heading to London, Glasgow and Plymouth. It’s a little way off yet but Creative Nottingham will bring you news and developments as time ticks on.

The British Art show has established a reputation for exposing exciting new artists and artwork to the public and setting new markers for contemporary art. The show only happens every 5 years and it comes at the perfect time for Nottingham as we look ahead to bigger and better recognition for our artistic achievements!

The good news is YOU can get involved! The organisers are seeking a consultancy to coordinate and create a high profile marketing campaign for the exhibition in Nottingham. The host venues will be The New Art Exchange, Nottingham Contemporary and Nottingham Castle Gallery, with support from Arts Council England and East Midlands (Grants for the Arts). You can find further details and how to apply electronically (the council is catching on to new technology!) on Source Nottinghamshire.

The even better news is you can also get involved in other ways. There will be a three month long British Art Show ‘Fringe Festival’ organised by ‘Nottingham Visual Arts‘ which will build upon the success of ‘Sideshow’ (which really doesn’t feel like 5 years ago!), a series of arts events in different venues that took place at the previous Nottingham British Art Show.
