Sneinton Showcase & Christmas Market, Saturday 19th December

Saturday 19th December, from 10am onwards, Sneinton Market

Nottingham City Council has been given £1.9 million to transform Sneinton Square. As a local I’m thrilled; living close-by and often walking through this neglected, run down space next to the city centre has me humming  The Specials ‘Ghost Town’ and thinking of Coventry in the 1980s, so the investment after years of discussions is great news.

The market is getting the arty treatment care of Nottingham Visual Artists this Saturday:

Starting at 10am, participating projects include One Thoresby Street, Backlit, Can, Goldfactory, Prussian Projekte, Tether, Kathleen & Lily’s, Surface Gallery, The Shrug Ladies, Hatch/Megan Tait, Annexinema, Dance 4, Maison Foo, Apples & Pears, plus individual artists and designers. We’ll also be presenting a stall for artist’s books and prints, a traditional tea stall with delicious drinks and cakes plus an opportunity to see Santa and his helpers.
After dark at 6pm, you’ll be able to see the show reel compiled by Annexinema and Exocet projects in the ajacent Bath Street windows.
In the evening we’d like to invite you to our meeting about the British Art Show Fringe which will be followed by an Art Quiz at Nottingham Contemporary with prizes, mince pies and delicious mulled wine and winter warmers!”

Now taking bets on the winning team in the art quiz.  More info on the Nottingham Visual Artists site.
