Nottingham Light Night 2010 Feb 12th

LightNight

Once a year Nottingham plays host to Light Night, you may not realise it but thats what the big wheel is all about!

Well, the wheel will be back for 2010, but that’s not all there is to Light Night! Light Night takes place in cities around the UK and it’s aim is to reclaim cities from the rabble of drinkers, hen parties and other ‘low brow’ activities on offer, and replace them with a diverse selection of cultural events. The aim being to draw in folks who wouldnt normally head into Nottingham on a Friday night by promising them a fun evening on the town with a nicer atmosphere. Lets be honest, it’s a great attempt to try and quash the conception that Nottingham is a fearful place to be on a Friday night…lets face it, we’ve all seen or been victim of the nasty side so I’m fully behind any attempts to make Nottinghams’ nighttime a nicer place! Light Night proudly claimed 45,000 people came to into the City on this night in 2009.

So what is happening this year?

The date for your diary is Friday February 12th, with some family friendly events spilling out into the daytime of February 13th.
