Some things for the weekend

Something to visit:  Nottingham Castle Open launch, Saturday 23 January

As I write, Nottingham Castle is closed due to a major power cut. But fingers crossed that all is well for tomororrow’s launch of  the Nottingham Castle Open. The event brings together work by new and established artists and makers from a wide range of genres. Definitely worth a visit, once things get back to normal in the centre of Nottingham.

Something for the makers: automata maker commission opportunity

Expert at making automata? Northampton Museum and Art Gallery is the home of the world’s largest collection of shoes and shoe-related items and wants a specially made automaton to reflect that. Expressions of interest to be submitted by Friday 12th February. More details here.

Something for the diary: eBusiness Champions event, Thursday 26 January

Ok, I know it’s the weekend but it’s nice to know what’s ahead (why else would you be visiting CreativeNottingham?). eChampions is an online and face to face community for company owners, managers and others within East Midlands SMEs. Their latest event will cover key Google Analytics stuff such as setup, metrics, goals, filters, benchmarking and reporting. This should be an ideal introduction for both novices and people with a bit more experience. Full details here

Something quirky to see online: Sixty Symbols

Here’s something clever, quirky and conceptual by the University of Nottingham to keep your brain in action over le weekend.
