Nottingham Lace Revival

Debbie Bryan has been Championing Nottingham Lace for some time now, something Nottingham is famous for but also something of a dying art which was slowly being forgotten. With the demise of the lace museum and the textile museum (and the rise of the drinking establishment!) the opportunities to see and buy authentic Nottingham Lace we’re becoming few and far between.

Debbie has always had a passion for all things ‘vintage’, and had put together a collection of resin brooches containing pieces of Nottingham lace, little did she know how this would take off an the media attention it would receive! Debbie began stocking Nottingham lace in her Studio and Shop almost immediately after opening as the demand became so high, she now sells (amongst many other things!) hand dyed Nottingham Lace scarves, her Nottingham Lace brooches, aswell as lace trimmings and haberdashery.

This has evolved into her Nottingham Lace Showcase, currently exhibiting at Debbie Bryan Studio and Shop until May 2nd. Debbie invited a group of Nottingham designers to create limited edition craft pieces based on Nottingham lace. Each were sent a scrap of lace as inspiration, the result is a beautiful colleection of textiles, ceramics, woodwork and papercraft.

You can visit Debbie’s shop in the Lace Market – Wednesday to Saturday 12 – 6pm
