Earache Records ‘ask Earache’ blog is something I have stumbled upon this week. For all you extreme Metal fans out there you will already know that Earache Records are on of Nottingham biggest music business success stories.

2tone a group of musicians from  Nottingham have made a tune showing their views about growing up in Nottingham.

Club NME has hit Nottingham and David Blenkey of Woot Design, a graphic designer / illustrator/ photographer / art director based in Nottingham, has taken the reins on their promotional material!

And in other news – the Evening Post reports that a man who sang along to loud Cheryl Cole music until the early hours of the morning has been evicted from his council flat. I’m sure his neighbours are relieved.

Film

a Brighton student Tom Bem-Hodgkinson has won a £2,500 film competition by kicking a ball to Meadow Lane, home of Notts County. You can see the video at www.aviva.co.uk/greenarmy.

Fashion students at Nottingham Trent University have created menswear collections aimed at high-street retailer Topman after being challenged by the company to design for its spring/summer Topman Design 2011 range.

Arts & Design

Scene Photography and Shauna Richardson have collaborated on a series of spookily atmospheric photographic images of her crocheted animals. As you may know Shauna won the Arts Council/Olympics bid to create an art installation of giant crocheted lions for the 2010 Olympics.

The University of Nottingham H.O.U.S.E (a family home optimizing the use of solar energy) is competing against 19 other universities from across the world to design, build and test drive Europe’s most energy efficient home. Best of luck to them!

Young Creative awards 2010 – Deadline for entries is 23 April 2010

Little Black Dog Design has a charitable heart. They donate 5% of all their graphic design fees to Animal Accicent Rescue Unit. What a lovely idea!

An exhibition of contemporary artwork by students studying HND Fine Arts at the South Nottingham College took place at the Clifton Cornerstone last month. This is the exhibitions 3rd year, organised by course Leader Michelle Keegan (my ex-art tutor of 4 years!).
