From One Creative to Another: Links Round-Up

As I approach the end of my degree in Marketing Design and Communications and am starting to apply for jobs, similarly to my university applications, I am once again having to put into words what best describes who I am. A word that has always been recurrent on all previous applications, whether they have been art college, university or internships, has been creative. I have always had an avid interest in the arts and design with a hope to enter into the creative world myself, making my next two months with Creative Nottingham an especially exciting prospect. During my time here I hope to provide new and interesting information that will appeal to all you creatives in and around Nottingham with the core aim to help create a friendly online community. I hope to further spread the word via facebook and get more people involved  in order to promote, celebrate and share what is great about Nottingham, starting with what’s going on now:

…Behind 60 Seconds- Today 7pm

Ali Zaidi, the artistic director of Motiroti will be at the New Art Exchange from 7pm tonight, sharing favourite films from 60×60 secs and talking  about the Motiroti’s 360 project. Tickets are free, so, for what is sure to be an interesting evening out book a place and get an insight into the rationale behind the Motirotis inspiring, cutting edge,  live and digital art.

For all those Poets out there…

Blackdrop! @ The New Art Exchange presents the return of Poetry and Spoken work night. This open mic session featuring Matt Black AKA ShortMAN is on Thursday 13th May at 8pm and just £5 on the door. If you are interested, be sure to arrive promptly in order to ensure a slot during the evening.

Tickets for the Nottingham Poetry Series, ‘I Am An American Poet’ are now on sale . The event will take place from the 15th and 18th of July and offers a fantastic chance for serious writers to interact with other poets and attend workshops, craft talks and conference readings. This occasion looks to be a great opportunity to create a community spirit amongst writers in Nottingham and if that is you, this is a date well worth putting in your diary!

Win a pair of Dot to Dot festival tickets, all you have to do is answer one simple question or, to ensure you don’t miss out on an amazing line up  buy tickets online. This festival boasts a great line up including Mystery Jets and Ellie Goulding; it’s a weekend not to be missed and I am definitely going to be buying my tickets soon. It can hardly be imaginable but last year I remember flitting between venues, enjoying drinks and appreciating some really good music on what was a really hot summers day! Hopefully the weather will fulfill my expectations and will add to what already promises to be a great festival.
