With the disappointment of England’s sporting endeavours still ringing in our collective ears, it’s time to pick ourselves back up again and go after something more realistic than mastery over the world of football…

Careers

• The Crocus Gallery in Lenton is looking for volunteers to fill various roles – this could be a great way to get some gallery work on your CV, as well as providing a unique chance to get involved at the early stage of a new gallery to influence the exhibits and direction taken. Roles available include gallery invigilator, volunteer coordinator and exhibition organiser. No experience expected – if you’re interested, email Alyn Mulholland

• Looking to launch your creative business, but don’t know how to get started? Antenna are holding a free pre-start session to answer any problems you might have, including topics such as how to set up, learning about business planning and methods to market and promote your venture. There are 40 places available but it’s on a first come, first served basis, so register here if you’re looking to get your business off the ground. Next Wednesday, July 7th, 9am-1:30pm, lunch and refreshments provided.

Workshops

• The Nottingham Writers’ Days are back! Hosted by the Nottingham Writers’ Studio, each event is a one day intensive writing workshop, led by award-winning writers from the NWS. The next event is being held next Saturday, 10th July, 10:15-17:30 (followed by dinner). ‘From Idea to Screenplay’ is the theme;  Michael Eaton, MBE, the host. Michael is a screenwriter specialising in docudrama; his work includes Shipman, Shoot to Kill, and Who Bombed Lockerbie. Advance booking is essential – sessions are limited to 12 people. £45 NWS members and concessions, £75 non-members. Price includes tuition, tea/coffee through the day, lunch and dinner.
