Art in unusual places

Car booty

I like art. I like car boots. So an occasion that combines both has to be worth a visit. Nottingham’s very first art car boot (artboot?) takes place in Nottingham this Sunday, brought to you by the Raw Collective. More details on our Community site.

Down the market

Victoria Centre Market is great for bargain fruit and veg (and for useful things from that stall called Aladdin’s Cave). But this month you’ll find the work of contemporary artists nestling amongst the usual traders. Throughout August the Market Arts Project is turning available stalls into free exhibition and project spaces. Artists exhibiting include a sculptor,  an illustrator working in pen and ink (while you wait, apparently) and members of the Nottingham City Artists group.

Over at the anti art school

Putting the ‘ooh la la’ into ‘art event’,  Dr Sketchy Nottingham combines life drawing with cabaret and celebrates its first birthday this Saturday with a special Kiss Me Quick Summer Seaside show (and you thought you’d had enough of all that in Market Square).
