An inspiring flair for business

Charlotte Thomson

An instinct for creativity and a glamorous approach to business, has helped Nottingham artist Charlotte Thomson develop her unique artistic skills.

And with the help of Business Link, she is now realising her full potential as a businesswoman.

Some of you may recognise Charlotte as a proactive member of the Creative Nottingham team – and we feel justly proud of her, for her artistic and business achievements.

It’s not surprising that her work is in such demand, with regular commissions for her unique style of evocative and glamorous portraiture. She is also well known in Nottingham (and beyond) for her regular projects – including Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School Nottingham, Danse Macabre, Pit of Curiosities and Delicate Treats. She’s a great champion of the creative industries in Nottingham, and an inspiration to us all!

Charlotte is just one of many artists in Nottingham with the courage, drive and ambition to establish their own business. And she was realistic about seeking support to give the business an extra chance of success.

She said: “I approached Business Link at a critical point – where my business needed more focus and a stronger structure to move forward and become a reliable source of income. Knowing what I know now, they could have helped me a lot over the last three years and I wish I’d contacted them earlier!”

With the future feeling uncertain for many, this is encouraging news for the industry. Anyone considering setting up their own business should take advantage of Business Link events and workshops, most of which are completely free.

Further information on business support packages available, can be found on the Business Link East Midlands website.
