The Open 22 Exhibition in Leicester is open to artists across the East Midlands.  Accepted entries will be displayed in Leicester’s New Walk Museum and Art Gallery from the middle of November to the middle of January.  Unfortunately the New Walk Dinosaur Gallery is closed for re-furbishment, so your winning entry will not be against a backdrop like the one above.  [The Ancient Egypt gallery is open, please insert your favourite joke about your maternal parent here.] Their description is:

The annual open offers a visually stunning and diverse exhibition presenting a dynamic array of artworks and contemporary craft by artists from Leicester, Leicestershire and the East Midlands.

Details, the application form and process are all on the Leicester City website.  Note that you have to deliver your entry in person on one of Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 29, 30, 31 October.

Are you a web start-up? Or part of one?  Notts Tuesday are running their annual Web Start-up of the Year event on 9 November and if you want to be in it, you need to email the organiser by 2 November.  I was in the audience last year, and the whole evening was enjoyable, a good opportunity to meet people and get a sense about what is possible.  So even if you are not competing, the evening might be one for your diary.

Gaming, by definition, is competitive.  And it is about to get its own local weekly web tv program, “thebunker” filmed in Lacemarket House.  There aim is a ‘360’ of gaming in and around Nottingham – from xbox360, ps3, wow, secondlife and board games, they want to delve into the world of the game.  To kick off, there is a launch party this Friday, 22 October, at 6pm. You can get a free ticket via twitter (tweetvite) or eventbrite.   It is odds on that you will enjoy this.
