Join the groovy bookmobile tour

Nottingham, we now have transport as art – and another great creative concept is doing the rounds again in Nottingham on 16 November.

As part of the Sideshow activities, the Tether crew will be touring select Nottingham venues in a VW Camper Van – specially converted into a library, or bibliobus.

The aim of the tour, as well as being a genius and also bizarre concept, has a serious side – to deliver important messages about learning and bring knowledge to the doorstep – literally!

They’ll be bringing (and collecting) books for all to peruse, and it will be a place for research, talks and tutorials too.

This is a fantastic way of putting in to the spotlight (or should it be headlights?) the plight of the book, in light of the digital age and the ever increasing popularity of book readers.  I like gadgets, but you really can’t beat reading a crumply old book can you?

Nottingham’s creative community are great at inventing or discovering new or ‘alternative’ ways of doing things to get their message across – so get out there and support the crew.

They’ll be stopping off at Nottingham Contemporary, New Art Exchange, The Castle, One Thoresby Street, Tether, TAO, + other venues during the day.

For more information, and specific times, see the Nottingham Visual Arts website.
