Who are you?
Nick Hinchcliffe, Subliminal Message, based in the Meadows, Nottingham.

What brought you to Nottingham?
Work.

What keeps you in Nottingham?
The comfort of knowing a place and the people.

What makes you different to other creative people in Nottingham?
I am probably not that much different in the fact I feel compelled to do what I believe I am naturally good at – storytelling. More often than not I identify with the baddie at the end of “Lawn Mower Man” looking for a way out of convention and making something unique that is thoroughly entertaining. Isn’t that how other “creatives” view it?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Script-writing full time and living abroad. Maybe making the move to popular fiction and flying a kite with my little girl in a field on the coast every sunny weekend.

What do you wish you had more time for?
Writing

Nick and daughter Kai

What keeps you awake at night?
The aftermath of vivid dreams.

What do you think is Nottingham’s best kept secret?
The hidden masses at work in day jobs; those with a bucket load of unexplored talent.

What would you like to see more of in Nottingham?
Coffee shops!

What Big thing are you currently working on?

I am writing a film script that goes off for a basic appraisal to the London-based Raindance Festival after Christmas and then the rounds of production companies.

We’ll be hearing more from Nick over the next two weeks. Click here to find out more about Guest Blogging with Creative Nottingham
