Though it started on Thursday 12 May, there’s still time to join the Holy Gr-ale Trail and be part of what was once considered to be the best beer trail in Nottingham. The participating pubs line both sides of Mansfield Road and till Sunday 15 May, over a hundred different types of real ales and ciders will be on offer. With special menus and live music events also on the platter, this is the trail to pub heaven on earth.
The two things these participating pubs have in common are the traditional English feel and the classic Nottingham red brick exterior. But this is where the similarities end. With the wide range of brews, music and food available, you might actually be spoilt for choice in picking a favorite. The opening timings of the pubs are also staggered with the last pub in the line up (The Forest Tavern) closing at 2am. So if you pace yourself out like I plan to do, you can actually visit all of these on Sunday without having to feel yourself rushed.
As a bonus for completing the seven pub line up, you can get your Holy Gr-ale visitor’s card stamped at each of these to claim a nice souvenir bottle of beer.
And when I picture this bottle of beer… alongside my pint of beer…with some 60’s music in the background… and a plate of hog roast…and some bangers and mash… and definitely one large serving of potatoes and gravy…. I’m thinking it’s all win-win.
