GameCity is now in full swing, and if that’s the sort of thing that interests you, but you still haven’t been down to the Old Market Square to check it out, then you’ve only only got one day left – so get a move on! I know we promised last week not to mention this again in a links round-up (sorry, John!), but I thought it was worth giving a mention to considering that it finishes tomorrow. We’ll have a proper post on it soon. Moving on…
In case you haven’t already heard, UK Young Artists is hosting its’ first World Event Young Artists show in Nottingham in September 2012, as a finale to the Cultural Olympiad. A little short notice, perhaps, but the deadline for applications has been extended until Halloween, so if you’re aged between 18 and 30 and are involved in pretty much any creative discipline (‘from music, dance, theatre and spoken word, to film, visual arts and gastronomy’ is the official line) and fancy representing the UK in an event based in Nottingham, and have work ready to present, then there’s still time to submit and application (and pay your £20 submission fee).
This weekend also brings the return of the Mayhem Horror Film Festival to the Broadway cinema. The festival actually started on Thursday, but you’ve still got until Monday to catch some spooky cinema. It looks like the festival film listings page on the Broadway’s site is down at the moment, but a PDF of the line-up is available.
Curiosity Haus are hosting an Indie Market at Bunkers Hill this Saturday, too. Looks like it’s shaping up to be a busy weekend! I used to live opppsite Bunkers Hill and would welcome any excuse to spend a Saturday there, but – alas – I’m working away over the weekend. If you’re popping down then there’s a Facebook event page for you to RSPV and/or share with anyone else you think would be interested in craft, design, vintage, cakes, gifts, or live music.
