In case you’d forgotten, it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday. (I rushed to the florist’s in a panic last week thinking it was last Sunday only to be set straight. So I’m pretending I knew it all the time and am just very organised…) Anyway, what to buy for that special lady? Tesco’s suggest Domestos. No really. Here’s the proof. I can only imagine what reaction my mother would give if I bought her some Domestos for Mother’s Day. Or on any occasion. *ducks from flying bottle of bleach*
Alternatively you could get something marvellous from a Nottingham-based crafter. Luckily Belle and Jerome are holding a craft fair tonight – TONIGHT! – at their West Bridgford joint and have a great range of lovely craft items on offer. I confess that I don’t make it south of the river often (or at all, if I’m honest) but am assured that Belle and Jerome’s are the epitome of classy foodiness and, tonight they are also offering 2 for 1 on Bellinis, so who can resist?
Anyway, who will be there? The list of crafters is impressive and features some of Creative Nottingham’s favourites:
Delish – cake pops and other sweet treats
Karen Benson – photography
Bibusa – ethical gifts from Africa
Hannah Stevens – hand printed textiles
JC Middlebrook – items inspired by Nottingham Lace
Katie Steiner – contemporary papercrafts
Emma Learoyd & Sunflower Design – textile designers
Daisy Rose Designs – glass jewellery and accessories
Minifolk Market – a selection
Rhea Clements – Cotton scarves and jewellery
As well as craft loveliness and bargain bellinis, there will be free canapes, special offers and goodie bags for the first 20 people who turn up. The event starts at 6pm and lasts till 9pm.
