Surely the screams and bangs are over now?
Goodbye pumpkins and fireworks. Hello tinsel and mince pies…… though maybe not, since it seems they have all featured simultaneously in supermarkets since September!
As a result I have had an attitudinal shift for 2014. I’m not going to go all bah humbug and say “I have a late November birthday so don’t insult me with your incessant talk of Christmas nonsense until it’s time to open the first door of your cheap chocolate advent calendar” No this year I will embrace all that is Christmas in a crafty fashion because I am overwhelmed with love for all the glorious markets and events bursting with lovely local makers and artists (and there are at least three separate events happening on my birthday if anyone feels like supporting local makers whilst buying me a gift!)
Hence a links roundup of some of my old favourites and some I’ve been pointed to, apologies if I’ve missed yours (add it in the comments, tweet it to us @creativenotts or post it on our Facebook page, better still all three!) and specifically to the Sherwood Art Week folks as your Christmas Craft Fair has been and gone before I got to posting! You might just be reading this in time for day two of Winterfest at Thoresby in North Notts!
In no particular order apart from chronology………
My opportunity for drooling over designer craft Lustre at Lakeside 15 and 16 November
Craft in The City Winter Fair at St Peter’s Church Saturday 22 November and Waterstones weekends from November 29
Trinity Square hosts a whole series of Trinity Trends events during November and December
Craft weekend at Attenborough Nature Centre 6 & 7 December
And I’m sure there are so many more…….. just let me know, as Depeche Mode once sang I just can’t get enough!
Oh and as I have embraced Christmas prematurely let me be the first to wish you Happy New Year! I won’t speculate on the number of days left before red things smothered in hearts will be swamping the shelves, but I have no doubt they will arrive in tandem with the bunnies, fluffy chicks and chocolate eggs.
Happy Festive Season!
