Nottingham came out tonight to show solidarity with supporters of press freedom and show collective respect for all those murdered on the offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris. As you will know, twelve people lost their lives, including ten journalists and media workers. Around 70 came out on a cold January night to remember them show solidarity with their families and colleagues. This was only days after the International Federation of
Journalist reported that 135 journalists were killed in 2014.
At Creative Nottingham, we acknowledge the reason for which the staff of Charlie Hebdo were targeted, and only hope horror of the violence, can be turned around with a show of solidarity and defiance among journalists and writers.
