Notts TV is a year old today – Happy Birthday from Creative Nottingham! They have given us, and a select group of others, an anniversary duck and we have begun to take it out for some creative activity in Nottingham. First up was a visit to Queens Walk, and the wonderful sculptures along the tram tracks. We have blogged about this public art before, it is still my personal favourite of artistic work in Nottingham. Naturally the duck was very impressed and wanted to be a part of it.
While I was taking these pictures, I was approached by none other than Pat Thomas, a member of The New Meadows Tenants and Residents Association and a prime mover in the whole project. It was a pleasure for me to say Thank You, and we discussed our favourite poles among the twelve. Pat said her favourite was the one commemorating Thomas Hawksley – he set up clean water supply for Nottingham in the early Victorian period, ensuring we suffered much less from cholera than elsewhere – his expertise was later taken up by many other places. (I am a bit partial to the one featuring Raleigh bikes.)
The duck is on the move again, keep an eye on our twitter feed, @creativenotts, for more sightings (and the general Twitter hashtag #ThankYouNotts).
Happy Birthday Notts TV!
