The final installment of our Creative Twinning series from Sue Bulmer is here!
Having spoken to the three founder members of Creative Twinning I’ve definitely got a lot more of an idea of what it’s all about and I can’t wait to see how it all develops. I asked the three founders to say a few words about how they see it developing and this is what they had to say about their message….
‘Creative Practitioners are often labelled as hobby / lifestyle business (and yes those types of business do exist), we want to get across that you have to be driven and to be strong; as we are not just a business, we create our own product innovation and put our name to it – we are determined. We work hard and have to invent ways to not just sustain our business but to grow them in challenging times. Creating and valuing in a different way.’
The first Creative Twinning event that I will be part of will be taking place on Friday October 26th at Nottingham Contemporary. It’s called ‘Inspire and Unite’ – an eco-design showcase of the creative work on from Debbie, Hannah and Jayne, whose work you can see below…
As well as their own work, three designers from Karlruhe will be exhibiting, the group of designer-makers who attended Eunique in 2012 and also the newest members of Creative Twinning from Design Factory, of whom I am one!
Creative Twinning founder members said ‘We want to demonstrate to overseas visitors the potential of creative Nottingham and East Midlands, to show that creative practitioners have their place within the city deal, we want to raise the profile of this exciting project by liaising with other designers & key supporting partners here in Nottingham and overseas and to promote and develop creative business in our fantastic city and abroad!’
Creative Twinning’s main event is this Friday, 26 October, at Nottingham Contemporary from 6pm.
