You may have noticed all has been quiet on the Image Competition front. It got a little overshadowed by the Logo Competition so we decided to hold off for a few weeks and re-launch! All previous entries are still included and all the rules are the same, its just the deadline that’s different. We’re seeking Nottingham’s [...] Aaron Robinson, displaying at Maximum Expo 2010 It’s Friday already, and what’s more, we’re now well and truly into the second half of the year, spiralling down towards short days and long nights. If contemplating the polls is making you want to take out your eyes with toothpicks, we’ve plenty to keep you in the creative loop this week with new blogger Fiona Hanley holding the editorial ropes, and new guest bloggers joining the team to be announced very [...] As a soon-to-be graduate, this point in my life is both exiting and nerve racking; a feeling shared by many students on the brink of finishing what seems like an eternity of studying and education. Now is the time for celebration, of both our own achievements and those of our peers. This summer, young, talented [...] Creative Nottingham Image Competition Calling all artists, illustrators, designers, textiles artists, sculptors, digital artists, photographers and all other creative souls! Creative Nottingham is holding a competition to find images representing ‘Creative Nottingham’ which will become a key part of Creative Nottingham’s first print marketing campaign to be distributed around Nottingham and the East Midlands area . Closing [...] Boffin is truly a fantastic word, isn’t it? Up there on a par with dentriloquist (yes, a real word – it refers to someone who speaks through their teeth) and chum (wonderfully deceptive, calling someone ‘chum’ either means you are friends, or you think they share their qualities with ground up oily fish guts). Anyway, as [...] As if the multi-media Star City exhibition at the Nottingham Contemporary is not enough, the Cafe Bar at the museum is presenting an eclectic evening of music and performance next Friday night. The full details are on the Cafe Bar website (note that, irritatingly, this is not listed in the main Nottingham Contemporary events list), but [...] If this week has had any theme to it, it’s been a mix of Valentine’s day happenings and futurological musings. I’m pleased to say that the theme neatly continues today, with another fantastic idea for that special someone in your life (or possibly just yourself, if you enjoy treats). That idea comes courtesy of Star Bakery, a [...] As we all know, innovation in business is important at the best of times, it goes without saying that it becomes even more vital to ‘think outside the box’ when you’re dragging your business through and out of a recession.
