It’s almost the weekend, and the weather has finally picked up – not that we Nottingham folk care if it’s rain or shine – because the forecast for fun and entertainment is looking great!
A waterfront weekend is predicted, and if you’ve got any idea about the best place – in the whole stratosphere – if you’ve not got a ticket to see outstanding Cricket at Trent Bridge – then Nottingham Riverside Festival is the place to be.
With a packed programme of events, there’s something for everyone, young and old (remember, age is an attitide, not a number!) – events start from 6pm tonight and run through to Sunday evening. The festivities don’t just stay along the water’s edge either – with many of Nottingham’s key venues hosting exhibitions this weekend and throughout the summer.
At Riverside, here are just a few of the special events not to miss. Check the programme of events for full list, and to confirm date and times.
FRIDAY
- The Bandstand: Latin inspired Zumba – 6.30pm-7.30pm
- Monument Stage: The Crew – ultimate 60s band – 9pm-10.15pm.
SATURDAY
- Live and Local on the Monument Stage: Marc Block & the Breezes – 1.50-2.50pm
- The Bandstand: Nottingham Ukulele Club – 5pm-6pm.
- Festival stage: Wholesome Fish – 2.15pm-3.30pm.
- The famous Riverside Festival Fireworks display starts at 10.30pm.
Shuttle buses to city centre after the fireworks.SUNDAY
- Dragon Boat Challenge. 10am – 4pm – Races every 15 minutes.
- Bikini Beach Band and The Hula Honeys – 1.15pm on the Festival stage.
- Nottingham Mela Artists – 12 noon to 6.30pm on the Trent Bridge Stage.
- Aye up my Duck – Charity Duck Race – 4.30pm – in aid of Macmillan Nurses and Nottingham University Hospital Charities Cystic Fibrosis Unit, please show your support.
